Bala is an Architect by education and joined the ITDP India team in 2019, and has been involved in conducting research and building capacity of city officials in implementing Healthy Streets initiatives and Parking Management reforms. Based in Tamil Nadu, Bala leads advocacy and project implementation in the second-tier cities of the state, alongside contributing to the research for our national programmes under the Smart Cities Mission, by creating guides and templates, and managing online knowledge-sharing platforms.

He believes in designing and managing cities in a comprehensive manner, and always attempts to looking at the larger picture.

Apart from work, Bala loves to travel and watch movies.
